POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Hartwick swept through its four opponents this weekend at the Marist Invitational in Poughkeepsie. The Hawks' overall season record now stands at 6-6.
On Saturday, 'Wick downed Dollard Des Ormeaux (Quebec) in an exhibition, 17-8. Jemma Dendy Young (Cape Town, South Africa), Lisa Bass (Montreal, Quebec), and Jessica McKee (Tustin, CA) each scored three times for Hartwick and Jess Dorman (Auckland, New Zealand) made five saves in goal.
On Sunday, the Hawks took down Boston University in an exhibition, 13-4, and defeated Iona, 20-12, and the host Red Foxes, 15-11.
Against the Terriers, Megan Clampitt (Barrington, IL), Sara Herlich (Shrewsbury, MA), Alice Denny (Mundelein, IL) and Cohco Harbour (Ninole, HI) each scored twice to pace the Hawks. Stephanie Abajian (La Canada, CA) made eight stops in the 'Wick cage.
Hartwick exploded for a season-high 20 goals against Iona, scoring five or more goals in three of four quarters. Bass was the high scorer with six tallies. Sami Capparelli (Miami, FL) added a hat-trick, and McKee, Young, Charlotte Mensink (Nijverdal, Netherlands), and Allyssa Analytis (Montreal, Quebec) added a pair of goals apiece. Dorman made five saves.
Against the Red Foxes, the Hawks took a commanding first-half lead, 12-4, en route to a four-goal win. Analytis fired in four goals and Mensink added three in the game. Capparelli and Lily Martinez (Commerce, CA) each scored twice and Hayley Cox (El Segundo, CA) stopped 10 Marist shots.
Bass (pictured) would end the weekend as the Hawks' top scorere with nine tallies. Caparrelli added seven goals and McKee and Analytis each netted six. Young and Mensink each registered five markers.
The Hawks host Harvard on Monday in their home opener at Moyer Pool. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
