#3 USC Stops Hawks' Streak at 16

LOS ANGELES, CA - Defending national champion and nationally third ranked University of Southern California defeated Hartwick's 16th ranked water polo team on Wednesday night by a final score of 19-4. The loss for the Hawks, which is their first since February 13th, snaps a 16-game win streak. It marks the second-longest run in the history of the program.

The host Trojans (15-3) have now won 23 straight games at McDonald's Swim Stadium and improve to 8-0 all-time against the Hawks. Hartwick is now 20-7 on the season.

USC scored five times in the first quarter to open up a five-goal lead after one. The Trojans outscored the Hawks by a narrow 3-2 margin in the second session to take an 8-2 advantage into halftime.

The hosts tallied another five times in the third to lead 13-3 after three and scored six of the final quarter's seven goals for the 19-4 final score.

Senior Jessica McKee (Tustin, CA) scored three of Hartwick's four goals in the game. She now has 19 goals in the Hawks' seven games out west. Allyssa Analytis (Montreal, Quebec) registered the other 'Wick tally. Jess Dorman (Auckland, New Zealand) made seven saves for the Hawks.

The game is the first of three against nationally ranked opponents for the Hawks to wrap up the California trip. Hartwick plays at #13 Cal-Irvine on Saturday at 3 p.m. (PST). The Hawks and Anteaters met on February 13th with Irvine coming away with a 12-9 win. 'Wick then plays #10 Long Beach State at 7 p.m.
