Mensink’s Seven Leads Water Polo Past Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ - Junior Charlotte Mensink (Nijverdal, Netherlands) outscored Princeton University all by herself on Sunday. She netted seven goals as #14 Hartwick downed host Princeton, 12-6, at DeNunzio Pool in Princeton, NJ. The mark is a season-high for goals by a Hartwick water polo player. The Hawks have now won six straight matches and improve to 10-6 on the season.

The Hawks dominated the opening quarter, outscoring the Tigers by a margin of 5-0. Princeton, which trailed 6-1 at the half, cut its deficit to three twice in the third quarter. The Hawks, however, widened the margin in the fourth quarter with four of the six goals in the stanza.

Five other Hawks registered goals to go along with Mensink's septet of tallies. Jessica McKee (Tustin, CA), Jemma Dendy Young (Cape Town, South Africa), Sami Capparelli (Miami, FL), Sasha Freeborn (Auckland, New Zealand), and Allyssa Analytis (Montreal, Quebec) each found the net. Goalkeeper Jess Dorman (Auckland, New Zealand) (pictured) made 13 saves on Tiger shots.

Princeton received four goals from Brittany Zwirner. Sarah Hutchison and Julie Phillips each added one goal.

The Hawks return to action next Saturday as they host Utica and Brown at Moyer Pool.
