Navarro Stays Unbeaten in Hartwick Loss at Nazareth

            ROCHESTER, NY – Hartwick juniors Marcelo Navarro (San Juan, Puerto Rico/American Military Academy) improved to 4-0 in singles play on the season in Hartwick's 8-1 defeat at Nazareth College on Sunday. The loss for Hartwick drops its record to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the Empire 8.
            Navarro defeated Golden Flyer Bret Beaver in second singles, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) for 'Wick's lone victory on the day. Navarro now has a career singles record at Hartwick of 24-11.
            Fellow junior Jeff Boyd (West Newbury, MA/Pentucket Regional) took Ryan McCormick to a tie-breaker in the opening set in the first singles flight. McCormick would earn a 7-4 victory in the tie-breaker and he closed out the match, 6-3, in the second set.
            Hartwick plays in its home opener on Thursday, April 14 against Ithaca College at 4 p.m.
