Boyd, Navarro Earn Victories in Men’s Tennis Loss at Fisher

           PITTSFORD, NY – Hartwick juniors Jeff Boyd (West Newbury, MA/Pentucket Regional) and Marcelo Navarro (San Juan, Puerto Rico/American Military Academy) went unbeaten on the day but St. John Fisher came away with a 6-3 victory in men's tennis on Saturday in Pittsford, NY.
            Navarro kept his unblemished singles record intact in the second slot with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Fisher's Joseph Aquino. It ups his season record to 3-0 and marks his 23rd singles win at Hartwick.
            Boyd defeated John Wheelehan in first singles, 6-2, 6-4, to claim his first win of the year. He now has 18 wins for 'Wick competing in the top flight.
            The duo also combined for its first victory in doubles play. They downed Wheelehan and Howard VanBuren in the first flight, 8-3.
           
The Hawks (0-3) are still in search of their first team win of the 2011 season. Hartwick gets a shot at its first victory tomorrow against Nazareth at 12 p.m.
