Hartwick Women’s Tennis Falls to Ithaca in Empire 8 Semifinals

Jones and Tetreault lost in a tiebreaker in third doubles, 9-7
ROCHESTER, NY- The Hartwick women's tennis team saw its season come to end as it fell to Ithaca 6-0 in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Hawks gave the Bombers a battle in doubles play. In second doubles, the duo of Rebecca Clark (Mexico, NY/Mexico) and Lauren Michels (Clinton, NY/Clinton) were up 5-2 but Marni Blumenthal and Laurel Salladay rallied to win six straight games and take the set 8-5. Ruth Jones (Ossining, NY/Ossining) and Lysandra Tetreault (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) both played a hard-fought match in third doubles against Carly Siegel ad Allison Vizgaitis. The match went to a tiebreaker where Siegel and Vizgaitis came out on top, 9-7.
 
In singles, the Bombers won at first, third and fourth flights to win the match.
 
Ithaca moves on to the championship match on Sunday against Stevens. The Ducks defeated Nazareth in the other semifinal match, 5-3. The Hawks conclude their season with a record of 5-
