Keuka would narrow the deficit to nine points less than a minute later but a 15-7 Hartwick run to close out the first gave them a 35-18 halftime lead.
The 'Wick offense did not let up in the second half as the Storm did not have an answer. The closest Keuka would get was 44-27 with 15:43 remaining until the Hawks ripped a 22-4 run to go ahead 67-31 at 5:24 and cruise the rest of the game.
Hartwick dominated in nearly every offensive category. The Hawks controlled the paint 36-20 and got a huge lift from their bench as they outscored the Keuka reserves 32-6. 'Wick shot 46.6% (27-of-58) from the field.
“We did a good job around the basket tonight,” said head coach
Todd McGuinness. “Jared and Pete were able to finish around the rim and control the paint. Our bench did a good job contributing 32 points and I was happy with our effort from the defensive end.”
The Hawk defense forced 14 Storm turnovers that Hartwick took advantage of as it scored 19 points off of them. The defense held Keuka to 26.8% shooting from the field (15-of-56) and only 8.3% in three-point field goals (1-of-12).
