#19 Hartwick Water Polo Takes Two at Roadrunner Invitational

Martinez scored a total of nine goals on the day
BAKERSFIELD, CA – The women's water polo team won both of its games at the Roadrunner Invitational hosted by CSU Bakersfield on Saturday. Hartwick defeated Cal St. San Bernardino in their first game 19-4.

Lily Martinez (Commerce, CA) scored four goals to lead the Hawks. Jemma Dendy Young (Cape Town, South Africa) had three goals. Allison Kosich (Stockton, CA), Natalie Seabourn (Auckland, New Zealand), Sasha Freeborn (Auckland, New Zealand), and Lisa Bass (Montreal, Quebec) all had two goals each. Shannon Leonard (Ponte Claire, Quebec), Kamila Zakirova (Almaty, Kazakhstan), Sami Capparelli (Miami FL), and Alyssa Analytis (Montreal, Quebec) all had one goal.

Haley Cox (El Segundo, CA) had nine saves in goal

The Coyotes scored first in the game to take an early 1-0 lead but the Hawks would score seven straight goals to go up 7-1 with 6:50 left in the second quarter. Hartwick would score 12 of the game's last 14 goals to come away with the victory.

The Hawks took the second game against Colorado State 12-9. Martinez scored five goals to again lead Hartwick. Zakirova and Bass both scored twice. Freeborn, Analytis, and Dendy Young all had one goal each.

Cox stopped six shots.

Hartwick will wrap competition tomorrow with a 11 a.m. match against Santa Clara and a 4 p.m. game against the host Roadrunners.
