PROVIDENCE, RI- The Hartwick women's water polo concluded their regular season schedule against host Brown and defeated the Bears 11-7 on Sunday afternoon.
Jemma Dendy Young (Cape Town, South Africa) led the Hawks with four goals.
Allison Kosich (Stockton, CA),
Lisa Bass (Montreal, Quebec), and
Kamila Zakirova (Almaty, Kazahkstan) all had two goals.
Lily Martinez (Commerce, CA) contributed one goal.
Haley Cox (El Segundo, CA) stopped six shots in goal for Hartwick.
Kate Woods and Madison Pepper led Brown with two goals apiece, while Emily McNamara, Sarah Presant and Brittany Westerman added one each.
Evan Cranston had 10 saves for the Bears in the cage.
Both teams tallied three goals in the first quarter, but Hartwick gained a lead in the second by outscoring the Bears 3-1 to head into halftime with a 6-4 advantage. Hartwick then scored five goals to the Bears three in the final two quarters to earn the victory.
Hartwick will return to Providence next weekend to compete in the CWPA Eastern Championships. The #5 seeded Hawks will face #12 seeded Notre Dame College on Friday at 11:40 a.m. If Hartwick wins, they will then face the winner of #4 seed Maryland and #13 seed Salem International.
