ONEONTA, NY- The Hartwick women's tennis team won its second consecutive match with a 6-3 victory over St. John Fisher on Sunday afternoon at Hartwick's home courts. Hartwick improves its record to 3-2 and 3-0 in the Empire 8 while the Cardinals are 0-3 and 0-2 in the Empire 8.
The Hawks led 2-1 after doubles play.
Lauren Michels (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and
Rebecca Clark (Mexico, NY/Mexico) won in second singles 8-2 over Lauren Burke and Alysaa LaRocca.
Kristen Napolitano (Mt Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) and
Lauren Noyes (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) had a shutout win over Taylor Duquette and Alissa Cornacchia 8-0.
Megan Henson (Hinesburg, VT/Champlain Valley Union) and
Nicole Schepisi (Renssalaer, NY/Columbia) narrowly lost to Kate Pasier and Jennifer Lehrner 8-6.
In singles, the Cardinals took the first two flights to go ahead 3-2. Hartwick went on to win the final four flights to win the match.
Michels got her fourth win of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Burke. Clark also won her fourth match of the year with a 6-1, 6-0 victory versus LaRocca. Napolitano was a winner over Alissa Cornacchia 6-1, 6-2 and
Lysandra Tetreault (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) won her second straight singles match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Duquette.
Hartwick will host Union on Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.
