That lead proved to be short-lived as 'Wick busted out a 19-2 run that featured four straight three-pointers from Geisser, Suderley, and Rob Heller (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley), to go ahead 30-15 at 6:06. The Hawks would lead at halftime 38-21. Hartwick converted just over 57% of its shots to nearly 43% for the Highlanders in the first half.

The Hawks maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second half as Houghton never threatened. After Houghton's Mark O'Brien hit a trey at 17:37 to make it a 40-24 game, Hartwick outscored the Highlanders 25-9 over the next eight and a half minutes to surge ahead 65-33 with 8:17 remaining in the game. Hartwick led by as much as 33 points in the second half before Houghton knocked the lead down some but the Hawks still enjoyed a comfortable lead and cruised for the rest of the game.

“It was a really good team effort and our bench played well, particularly Vic, Rob, and Matt with their shooting and playmaking abilities," said head coach Todd McGuinness. “I'm proud of the way our guys competed. We executed our defensive game plan very well.”

Hartwick ended the game shooting 50% from the floor (26-of-52). The Hawks also shot 78% (14-of-18) from the charity stripe. 'Wick dominated on the glass, 38-25.
