The Hawks started the game up 6-0 in the opening minutes of the first half. The Express scored six straight points to tie the game up at 15:40.

An 11-4 Hartwick run put the Hawks ahead 17-10 at 11:02. An 8-2 Express run, however, put the home team to within one point of tying the game, 19-18, with just over eight minutes left in the half. The Hawks would still maintain a lead for the rest of the frame and after leading by eight points three times in the last 1:26 of the period, Wells would close the gap in half and 'Wick went into halftime with a 30-26 lead.

In the second half, Wells would again narrow the deficit to one point, 32-31, at 17:57 following a jumper by Shakeel Simmons. Hartwick would answer back as Lufkin nailed a three-pointer to put the Hawks up by four.

The host Express would not let Hartwick run away with the game as it again got to within one points of knotting the game up after another layup by Simmons reduced the 'Wick lead to 47-46 at 11:28. A layup by Keane would increase the Hawks' advantage to three points and start an 11-2 'Wick run that put it ahead 58-48 with 7:34 remaining in the game.

Wells would reduce the deficit to five points at 6:39 but a 7-2 Hawks run would restore the 10-point Hartwick lead, 65-55, with 3:23 remaining in the game.
