ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick College's men's tennis team dropped its season opener to Carroll University (WI) on Sunday in Hilton Head, SC. The Hawks fell by a count of 9-0 to the Pioneers.
           
In doubles action, Hartwick's second doubles team of sophomore Brian Redder (Marion, NY/Williamson Central) and freshman Liam Brown (Suffield, CT/Suffield) took four games against Carroll's Frankie Giuffre and Kevin Rasmussen in an 8-4 defeat.
           
Sophomore Will Gilbraith (West Monroe, NY/Paul V. Moore HS) won five games at the third singles flight for the Hawks. He dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Ryne Fertitta.
           
Today's match marked the first of three match in South Carolina for 'Wick. The Hawks will also two days later against Franklin (IN) at 6:30 p.m.
