Dumas Caps Career With Win for Hartwick Men’s Tennis Against Ithaca

Peter Dumas finishes his four years at Hartwick with 29 singles wins.

ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick College senior Peter Dumas (Albany, NY/Colonie HS) went out with a bang on Tuesday as he won for the third straight time at number one singles, this time against visiting Ithaca College. The Hawks were defeated 8-1 by the Bombers.
           
Dumas won a tight match at the top flight against Bomber number one Griffin Reid. Dumas won the first set convincingly, 6-1, before Reid fought back to claim the second set, 6-4. In the super-tie break, Dumas prevailed as he outlasted his IC counterpart by a final of 10-8.
           
Dumas ends the 2013 campaign with a record of 5-2 in the Empire 8 Conference and a mark of 5-6 overall. He finishes up his four-year career with a 29-21 singles record and 19-10 mark in the league. He also combined for 22 doubles wins.
           
Freshman Liam Brown (Suffield, CT/Suffield) nearly forced a third set in the fourth flight against Ithaca's Derryk Williams. After falling in the first set, Brown trailed Williams by a count of 5-4 in the second set but Williams won the tenth game and closed out the match.
           
Dumas and doubles partner Brian Redder (Marion, NY/Williamson Central) lost an 8-4 decision to Reid and Chris Hayes. They cap the season 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the Empire 8's first flight.
