Peter Dumas (Albany, NY/Colonie HS) and sophomore
Brian Redder (Marion, NY/Williamson Central) both won their singles matches and combined for a doubles win, but it wasn't enough on Sunday as St. John Fisher (2-7, 1-1 E8) defeated Hartwick men's tennis, 6-3.
The duo combined for a win at first doubles by defeating Cardinals Tom Quinzi and Pat McGrath, 8-2. Dumas and Redder are now 2-2 on the season.
Dumas secured his first singles victory of the season at the first flight. He defeated Fisher's Greg Duffy in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Redder also earned his first singles win of the 2013 campaign in straight sets. He knocked off Dan Parshall, 6-4, 6-2.
Will Gilbraith (West Monroe, NY/Paul V. Moore HS) battled McGrath at third singles. He took nine games in the match, but fell 7-5, 6-4.
Hartwick is off for the next week until it hosts Alfred University next Sunday at 1 p.m.
