Katie Ermakova had a pair of scores for the Hawks against Princeton.
LEWISBURG, PA- The Hartwick and Princeton water polo teams faced off in the semifinals of the CWPA Championship on Saturday night at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium. The two teams were neck and neck for over two quarters of play until the Tigers pulled away from the Hawks in the third quarter on their way to a 10-8 win.

The Tigers scored the first goal of the game at 5:17 of the first period. The Hawks responded with a goal from Jemma Dendy Young (Cape Town, South Africa) to tie the game up at 1-1 at 4:52. The teams would exchange goals with Princeton leading 3-2 after one quarter of play.

'Wick tied the match up again at the 6:02 mark of the second frame on Lara Dendy Young's (Cape Town, South Africa) first goal of the evening. The Tigers went ahead on a score from Jesse Holechek at 2:25 and then snuck in another tally with one second remaining to lead 5-3 at the half.

Hartwick narrowed the Princeton lead to just one goal on a Cayley Tonkin (Cape Town, South Africa) power-play score at 6:25. Goals at 5:44 from Pippa Temple, 4:31 from Ashley Hatcher, and 2:31 from Molly McBee staked Princeton out to an 8-4 advantage. Hartwick chipped away at the deficit with goals from Katie Ermakova (Columbia, MD) and Tonkin and trailed 8-6 heading into the final quarter.

Hatcher scored her second goal of the game 30 seconds into the fourth stanza to put the Tigers up 9-6. Sami Capparelli (Miami, FL) got 'Wick to within two goals again at 4:35 but the Tigers responded 19 seconds later to restore the three-goal advantage. Ermakova's goal with nine ticks on the clock made it a 10-8 match but it was too late as Princeton came away with the victory.

Capparelli, Tonkin, and Ermakova all scored twice. Jemma and Lara Dendy Young both had one score. Michaela Davies (Cronulla, Australia) had two saves in the cage.

Holechek led the Tigers with a hat trick. Hatcher and McBee both had a pair of scores. Temple, Katie Rigler and Diana Murphy had one goal apiece. Ashleigh Johnson stopped 14 shots in goal.
