ROCHESTER, NY- Host Nazareth led 7-0 in the first quarter and was up by 10 scores in the third frame on its way to a 17-5 win over the Hartwick men's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon.  The Hawks fall to 2-7 overall and 0-4 in the Empire 8. The Golden Flyers improve to 6-5 overall and remain undefeated in the Empire 8 with a mark of 4-0.

Cody Petillo (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) scored twice and assisted on a third goal to lead the Hawks. Zach Gropper (Syosset, NY/Syosset) tallied one goal. Matt McCallan (Bay Shore, NY/West Islip) and Evan Petillo (Holbrook, NY/Sachem North) both scored their first collegiate goals. Roy Simmons (Fayetteville, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) had two assists.

Petilo scored Hartwick's first goal of the game with 12:28 remaining in the second quarter. After the Golden Flyers scored a man-up goal, the Hawks answered on Gropper's 19th score of the season to make it 8-2 at 3:41.  Nazareth scored one more time with 2:10 left to play in the period to go into halftime with a 9-2 lead.

The Golden Flyers rattled off five straight scores to increase their advantage to 14-2 with 7:22 to play in the third stanza. 'Wick scored its third tally of the day on a Cody to Evan Petillo connection and added another on Cody Petillo's unassisted goal. Nazareth countered with a goal and then Simmons hooked up with McCallan for the Hawks' last score of the game with three ticks left in the quarter. The Golden Flyers scored twice in the final frame to complete the scoring.

The Nazareth defense held Hartwick to just six shots. The home team registered 62 shots for the entire contest. Naz also led in ground balls, 41-22, and won 20 out of 24 face-offs.

The Hawk are off until next Saturday when they host Elmira at Wright Stadium. Game time is a 12 p.m.
