PITTSFORD, NY - The Hartwick Hawks women's tennis team dropped an Empire 8 Conference match this afternoon to the Flyers of Nazareth College (2-5, 2-3), 8-1. The Hawks drop to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the E8.
The Hawks lone win came from freshman
Kelly Napolitano (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) at number one singles. Her first time in the top singles spot, she dispatched her opponent, 6-1, 6-1. With the win, Napolitano improves to 5-1 on the season.
Senior
Lauren Noyes (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) was able to save two match points but fell short in a third set tie-breaker at fifth singles, 0-6, 6-4, 12-10. Noyes also teamed up with
Caitlin O'Brien (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) at third doubles in a close contest. The duo came up a game short to fall 9-7.
The Hawks return to action tomorrow against another conference opponent. The Hawks look to draw even in conference play in Elmira tomorrow at 1 p.m.
