ROCHESTER, NY – Hartwick's women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to top-seeded Ithaca in the Empire 8 semifinals on Saturday at Mendon Racquet Club. The Hawks were making their first appearance in the conference playoffs since 2012.
           
Freshman Kelli Ryan (Plattsburgh, NY/Seton Catholic) took six games off of Jodi Grosberg in sixth singles for the Hawks. She fell by a final margin of 6-3, 6-3. Ryan closes her first season with the program with a record of 7-3.
           
Hartwick ends up 8-5 for the season after beginning the year with program records of eight straight overall victories and five consecutive Empire 8 wins. The Hawks' eight victories are the most for the program since the 2005 season.
