NORTHRIDGE, CA – Host Cal Northridge scored the game's first eight goals in an 11-6 victory over 20
th ranked Hartwick on Sunday in women's water polo. The Hawks fall to 1-3 with the loss.
Nikolina Mihajlovik (Mississauga, ONT) led Hartwick with three goals.
Brittany Tait (Kariong, Australia) added two scores and
Blanca Anton Cuesta (Madrid, Spain) contributed one goal.
The Matadors jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead just over three minutes into the game to seize control. They added two more tallies in the final 2:47 to take a 5-0 lead after one quarter.
After spotting Northridge three more goals, Mihajlovik put the Hawks on the scoreboard with 2:36 left in the second quarter. The Matadors tacked on one more tally to take a 9-1 lead into halftime.
Anton Cuesta scored for Hartwick in the third quarter but the Matadors would score twice in the period to extend the margin to nine, 11-2. Two goals apiece from Tait and Mihajlovic in the fourth quarter and the Hawks would outscore the hosts 4-0 to bring the final total to 11-6.
Michaela Davies (Cronulla, Australia) played in goal for the Hawks.

Kelcy Barrott scored three goals to pace Northridge. McKenzie Pollai and Madeline Sanchez chipped in two goals apiece.
Hartwick next plays on Thursday, February 5 against San Diego State. The Aztecs are currently ranked fourteenth in the latest CWPA National Poll.
