POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Twentieth ranked Hartwick split a pair of matches against Marist and Iona on Sunday in Poughkeepsie to move to 7-10 on the season. The Hawks lost in their opener to the Red Foxes 10-3. They rebounded with a 22-10 victory over Iona.
Against Marist, 'Wick fell behind 2-0 after the first quarter and the Red Foxes poured it on in the second as they opened up a 6-0 advantage.
Katie McKenty (Auckland, New Zealand) got the Hawks on the scoreboard with 21 seconds to go before the half to bring the score back to 6-1.
Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary) pulled the Hawks to within four with a goal 1:37 into the third period but Marist scored three times in the final six minutes to lead 9-2.
Blanca Anton Cuesta (Madrid, Spain) tallied off a Polak feed 2:46 into the fourth but it would be the final goal of the day for the Hawks. Marist netted the final goal with 4:20 remaining.
Hartwick outshot the Red Foxes by a 30-20 margin but Marist goalie Skyler Henry made 18 saves in the contest.
Michaela Davies (Kronulla, Australia) stopped four shots for Hartwick. The result marked just the second time the Hawks have been beaten by Marist in 29 matches. The Red Foxes avenge a 9-7 Hartwick victory on February 14.
The Hawks' offense responded on the second game with 22 tallies against the Gaels. Polak was involved with 10 goals for the Hawks with three tallies and a game-high seven assists.
Anton Cuesta and Mihajlovik each scored four times.

Kylie Traube (Johannesburg, South Africa) added one tally.
Davies made eight saves in the first three quarters in goal for the Hawks.
Josette Santos (Huntington Beach, CA) made three saves in the fourth period.
