ELMIRA, NY - The Hartwick Hawks (4-0, 3-0) remained undefeated today after edging Alfred University 5-4, playing indoors at Elmira's Murray Athletic Center.  The Hawks' 4-0 start is their best since 1992, two years before any of the players on the team were born.  The 3-0 conference start is the best for the Hartwick Women since 2005.
           
The Hawks had the edge in today's competition after taking four of the six singles matches. Anna Van Allsburg (Prides Crossing, MA/Spring Ridge Academy) secured her first conference win of the season edging her opponent 8-6. Three other Hawks improved their conference singles records after today including junior captain Caitlin O'Brien (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) who won comfortably at 5th singles, 8-4.
           
Two Hawks remained undefeated in singles including, freshman Kelli Ryan (Plattsburgh, NY/Seton Catholic), who improved to 2-0 in the conference play and 3-0 overall after defeating Inda Gillet 8-2.  Kelly Napolitano (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) continues to roll in the 2015 season without dropping a game against Emma Siemer winning 8-0.
           
After singles competition, the Hawks only needed one win in doubles. Heidi Rice (Canandaigua, NY/MarcusWhitman) and Rose Natoli (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) came close at 1st doubles losing 7-5 in a tiebreaker. The clinching victory came at 2nd doubles, where the sophomore duo of Napolitano and Van Allsburg dominated their opponents 8-0.  Without dropping a single game in today's match, Napolitano improves to 4-0 in singles and doubles, with an 8-0 mark overall.  
           
The Hawks will return to competition on Tuesday when they travel to Bard College for the first time in program history.
