ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - The Hartwick Hawks (5-0, 3-0) continue to roll as they defeated Bard College today 6-3. The Hawks capture their third straight victory on the road with the win over their Liberty League opponent and stay undefeated on the season.
The Hawks had a 2-1 advantage going into singles play after securing a win at 2
nd and 3
rd doubles. For the second consecutive match,
Anna Van Allsburg (Prides Crossing, MA/Spring Ridge Academy) and
Kelly Napolitano (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) won at 2
nd doubles without dropping a game, 8-0. The other win came from
Caitlin O'Brien (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) and
Jaclyn LaSita (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) who improved their record to 4-1, winning 8-3 against their opponents.
Four Hawks walked away today with wins in singles, including two who remained undefeated on the season. The match was clinched after
Kelli Ryan (Plattsburgh, NY/Seton Catholic) won at 6
th singles 6-1, 6-2 against Harper Zacharias. Napolitano improved to 5-0 at third singles after winning 6-0, 6-3.
Hartwick's other victories came from
Heidi Rice (Canandaigua, NY/Marcus-Whitman) at 1
st singles as she dominated Lily Schwartz 6-0, 6-2. O'Brien only dropped two games as well at 5
th singles defeating Bella Martinez 6-2, 6-0.
The Hawks look to make it six in a row as they play at home against SUNY Delhi on Thursday.
