ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick Hawks (6-0, 3-0) made it six wins in a row to start the season after dismantling SUNY Delhi at home today. The Hawks only dropped seven total games in the 9-0 victory over the visiting Broncos. Hartwick's 6-0 start ties a program record set in 1992 when the Warriors started 6-0 before losing their 7th match.
Several singles matches on the afternoon were 6-0, 6-0 triumphs; including
Rose Natoli (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) at 2nd singles,
Kelly Napolitano (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) at 3rd singles and
Anna Van Allsburg (Prides Crossing, MA/Spring Ridge Academy) at 4th singles.
The Hawks were also able to sweep doubles competition highlighted by an 8-0 victory by Napolitano and Van Allsburg for their 3rd straight win at 2nd doubles.
The Hartwick Hawks look to set a school record with a 7-0 start
on Tuesday when they host the Utica Pioneers in an Empire 8 showdown at
4 p.m.
