ROCHESTER, NY – This weekend, the Hartwick women's tennis team looked to round out its regular season slate against two Empire 8 members on the road. On Saturday afternoon in the first match of the back-to-back, Hartwick fell to Nazareth by the score of 6-3 at Mendon Racquet Club. The Hawks slip to 7-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

The Golden Flyers improve to 6-3 on the year with a 6-2 Empire 8 clip.

The Hawks will compete as the fourth seed in the 2016 Empire 8 Championships.

As the final doubles match to conclude, the no. 2 Hartwick duo of Kelly Napolitano (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) and Kelli Ryan (Plattsburgh, NY/Seton Catholic) grabbed an 8-3 win. This was the lone doubles point for the Hawks.

Top flight participant, Heidi Rice (Canandaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman), picked up the first singles point for the Hawks as the third matchup to end. Over Jeanie McCarthy, Rice ultimately used a 7-3 tiebreaker to add to her team's point total.

The Nazareth victory at the fourth flight secured its team win.

Jaclyn LaSita (Wading River, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) picked up the only other singles win for the Hawks. The junior topped her opponent, 6-4, 6-1.

Tomorrow, Hartwick competes in its regular season finale against Elmira. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
