SANTA CLARA, CA – No. 19 Hartwick split a pair of games on Saturday with an 11-7 win over Cal State Monterey Bay and an 11-10 loss to Santa Clara.
Against the Otters, a goal from
Maria Moya (Madrid, Spain/Ortega Y Gasset) put the Hawks up to stay in the first quarter. 'Wick built a 5-1 advantage in the second quarter before CSUMB pulled within two at halftime, 5-3.
Four straight Hawks' tallies built a 9-3 edge in the third quarter. 'Wick would maintain at least a four-goal lead throughout the fourth period.
Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary/Rudas HS) would lead the Hawks with six goals, all coming from the second quarter on.
L.J. Edwards (Encinitas, CA/Cathedral Catholic) would add three goals for 'Wick.
Katie McKenty (Auckland, New Zealand/Takapuna Grammar School) would also tally for the Hawks.
Hartwick led 10-8 against Santa Clara in the fourth quarter, but three straight fourth-quarter goals in a 3:45 span would push the Broncos past the Hawks.

Brittany Tait (Kariong, Australia/Harry Kendall HS) scored one apiece.
