DELHI, NY - The Hartwick Hawks (0-1, 0-1) were defeated in their season opener by Empire 8 rival Alfred University (2-9, 1-0) by a score of 8-1 on Saturday. The match was the Hawks' season opener played indoors at SUNY Delhi.
Hartwick fell behind early losing all three doubles matches. They were unable to recover during singles play. The lone win on the afternoon came from sophomore
John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus-Whitman) winning convincingly at second singles 6-2, 6-0.
Senior
Liam Brown (Suffield, CT/Suffield) played a close match dropping his decision 6-3, 6-4 to Alfred senior Matt Baloga at third singles.
