CAMBRIDGE, MA – The No. 11 Hartwick water polo team split a pair of games at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday. The Hawks were upset by Iona, 7-5, in their first game but rebounded for a 17-2 victory over Siena.
Against the Gaels, the Hawks received goals from five different players.
Lauren Brennan (Canberra, Australia/St. Clares College),
Brittany Tait (Kariong, Australia/Harry Kendall HS),
Katie McKenty (Auckland, New Zealand/Takapuna Grammar School),
Nikolina Mihajlovik (Mississauga, ONT/Silverthorn Collegiate Inst.), and
Charlotte Cottle (Blakehurst, Australia/Presbyterian Ladies College
) each scored for the Hawks.
Maria Moya (Madrid, Spain/Ortega Y Gasset) would register a pair of assists in the game.
Michaela Davies (Cronulla, Australia/Kirawee) made 10 saves, including a 5-meter shot in cage.
Against Siena, the Hawks had 10 different goal scorers in the resounding victory.
Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary/Rudas HS) led the Hawks with four goals. Tait added three, and McKenty and
Natalie May (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) each recorded a pair of goals apiece.
Brennan, Mihajlovik, Cottle,
L.J. Edwards (Encinitas, CA/Cathedral Catholic), and
Sarah Lewis (La Jolla, CA/Cathedral Catholic) each scored one goal each. Polak had five assists. Cottle added three.
Josette Santos (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) and
Sabrina Hartwell (Ann Arbor, MI/Skyline) combined for eight saves in goal. Santos made seven stops with Hartwell making one.
Hartwick (9-4) is back in action in Cambridge tomorrow against No. 17 Wagner at 2:15 p.m.
