ITHACA, NY – Hartwick's men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision on Wednesday at Ithaca College. The Hawks fall to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in league play with the setback. The Bombers improve to 8-5 and 5-1.
The Bombers took a 3-0 lead after doubles play, only dropping one game. They would take all six singles matches in straight sets.
Sophomore
John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) took six games at the number two singles flight against his opponent, Wes Davis. Talbot saved five match points but would drop the match by a count of 6-2, 6-4.
Ross Braue (Canastota, NY/Canastota) and
Sami Chaudhry (Lahore, Pakistan/Aitchison College) each won two games in their respective matches. Braue snapped a two-match win streak with a 6-1, 6-1 setback to Brandon Buksbaum at fourth singles. Chaudhry lost a 6-2, 6-0 decision at fifth singles to Ithaca's Lorenzo Viguie-Ramos.
The Hawks, who are 2-2 in their last four matches, look to get back into the win column on Saturday when they travel to Houghton on Saturday, April 23. The match begins at 2 p.m.
