HOUGHTON, NY – Hartwick men's tennis jumped right into Empire 8 Conference play in its season opener on Saturday at Houghton College. The Hawks would fall to the Highlanders by a count of 9-0.
John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) won four games at the top flight in singles play for the Hawks. He would drop a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Zach Shilvock.
Krishna Patel (Brunswick, ME/Pine Tree Academy) took three games at number two singles. He would be bested by Jordan Crouch, 6-2, 6-1.
Ross Braue (Canastota, NY/Canastota) and
Nick Adamou (New Milford, CT/New Milford) had the best performance in doubles play for 'Wick. The duo won three games but fell 8-3 to Jordan Scott and Bjorn Webb.
Hartwick must wait 11 days for its next match which takes place on Wednesday, March 22 at Oswego beginning at 4 p.m.
