CLAREMONT, CA – Nationally-nineteenth ranked Hartwick defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona Pitzer on Saturday to improve to 17-7 on the season. The Hawks beat the Athenas 11-6 and topped the Sagehens 11-3.
After a 3-2 lead for the Hawks against the Athenas, the hosts scored three of the next four goals to take a 5-4 lead into halftime. CMS led by 7-5 at one point but the Hawks responded with a 6-1 run to close the game for the win.
Lauren Brennan (Canberra, Australia / St. Clares College) and
Tori Wilson (Kitchener, ONT / Grand River Collegiate Institute) each scored a trio of goals for Hartwick.
Lena Kotanchyan (Moscow, Russia / Elk Island School #368) added a pair of tallies.
Maryanna Antoniou (Glyfada, Greece / Second General HS of Glyfada),
L.J. Edwards (Encinitas, CA / Cathedral Catholic HS), and
Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary / Rudas HS) also scored.
Emma Aleksandrovic (Belgrade, Serbia / Medicine School Zvezdara) stopped four shots in the contest.
Polak registered five goals for the Hawks against Pomona to lead the Hawks. Kotanchyan added four goals and three assists.
Natalie May (Huntington Beach, CA / Edison HS) and
Charlotte Cottle (Blakehurst, Australia / Presbyterian Ladies College) each scored one goal apiece for the Hawks.
Josette Santos (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison HS) made seven saves in the goal for Hartwick.
The Hawks return home for a CWPA home weekend from April 7-9. Hartwick opens with George Washington Friday at 7:30 p.m.
