ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick men's tennis team was handled by Ithaca, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon at Hartwick Courts. The loss puts 'Wick at 1-6 on the season and 0-5 in the Empire 8. Ithaca improves its win streak to three going up to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in the league.
The Bombers swept the doubles portion heading into the second part of the afternoon, 3-0.
The duos of
John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman)/
Krishna Patel (Brunswick, ME/Pine Tree Academy) and
Nick Adamou (New Milford, CT/New Milford)/
Ross Braue (Canastota, NY/Canastota) managed to put up points against the Bombers.
At the first flight, Talbot and Patel only fell by five while Braue and Tyrol's margin was a mere four points at number two.
Ithaca blanked 'Wick in five of the six singles showings, the exception coming at the top flight at the hands of Talbot. Talbot put up three points through two sets to ultimately conclude play on the afternoon.
The Hawks return to Hartwick Courts tomorrow for a CODE BLUE event featuring Utica at 4 p.m. After this week, Hartwick has two more to complete the Empire 8 slate, and four more to round out the regular season.
