DELHI, NY – Hartwick men's tennis (0-3, 0-2 E8) fell in a home contest Friday evening, 7-2, to Elmira (6-4, 1-1 E8) inside the campus of SUNY Delhi.
The visitors had a perfect showing in doubles. The pair of
Nick Adamou (New Milford, CT/New Milford) and
Ross Braue (Canastota, NY/Canastota) fell, 8-2, to Yaniv Kogan and Anthony Colavito at the second showing. At the third flight,
Drew Tyrol (Old Lyme, CT/Lyme-Old Lyme) and
Quinn McQuade (Oyster Bay, NY/Chaminade) dropped their match, 8-2, to Stephen Gervase and Jordan Curtis.
John Talbot (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) teamed up with
Krishna Patel (Brunswick, ME/Pine Tree Academy) at
the first flight but the duo was topped, 8-5, to Patrick Tracey and Chris Konow.
After sweeping the doubles matches, the Soaring Eagles increased their lead in singles on the heels of wins from Gervase, Kogan and Curtis, who bested Tyrol at the fifth flight (6-1, 6-2), McQuade at sixth (6-4, 6-1) and Braue at the fourth slot (6-3, 6-2), respectively.
Talbot got 'Wick on the board in a 4-6, 7-5, 10-1 performance over Colavito at the top flight. EC picked up its final point of the evening at the second flight when Tracey bested Patel, 6-0, 6-0. Adamou concluded the contest with a win over Konow, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4.
The Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, April 11 for a 4 p.m. match with Sage.
