ANN ARBOR, MI – Nationally thirteenth-ranked Hartwick dropped a pair of games to close out the final day at the Michigan Invite at Donald B. Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, MI Sunday. 'Wick lost a 19-9 exhibition match early this morning to the Chinese National Team. The Hawks then came up short against No. 20 Wagner College, 16-14, in their second game.

In the opener, the Hawks kept the tally even through the first quarter, 3-3. The Chinese team then out-scored 'Wick in the second quarter by a 7-2 margin and built upon its lead in the closing two quarters for a ten-goal victory.

Lena Kotanchyan (Moscow, Russia/Elk Island School), Nikolina Mihajlovik (Mississauga, ONT/Silverthorn Collegiate Institute), and Maryanna Antoniou (Glyfada, Greece/Second General) each scored a pair goals for the Hawks.

Becca Lelles (Boulder City, NV/Boulder City), Hayley Hill (Fort Lauderdale, FL/Fort Lauderdale), and Lissa Westerman (Newport Beach, CA/Newport Harbor) all scored a goal apiece in the match.

Against Wagner, the Hawks led 10-7 in the second quarter, but the Seahawks scored seven of the next eight goals to build a three-point, 14-11 cushion. They would lead 15-12 heading into the fourth quarter. The Hawks trimmed the gap to one with 1:40 remaining but the Seahawks tallied with under a minute left for the final goal of the game.

Tori Wilson (Kitchener, ONT/Grand River Collegiate Institute) scored four goals to lead the Hawks scoring. Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary/Rudas) and Kotanchyan were not far behind scoring three goals each.

Mihajlovik scored a pair of goals as she did in the first game. L.J. Edwards (Encinitas, CA/Cathedral Catholic) and Lauren Brennan (Canberra, Australia/St. Clares College) both scored goals to round out the Hawks' scoring in the second game.

Hartwick will be in action next weekend, February 3rd and 4th, at the Brown Invite hosted by Brown University in Providence, RI. Their first match will kick off at 12:40 p.m. against Villanova University.
