Poughkeepsie, NY – Nationally thirteenth ranked Hartwick was in action today against Siena College and Marist College at the McCann Natatorium in Poughkeepsie, NY. 'Wick beat the Saints 12-7 in their first game today. In game two of the day, the Hawks beat the Red Foxes 17-9, to extend their current winning streak to ten games.
The Hawks never trailed in their match against the Saints leading 5-2 at halftime. Siena broke even with the Hawks in the third quarter 2-2 but was unable to cut into Wick's lead. The Hawks would put the game away in the fourth quarter outscoring the Saints 5-3. The Hawks would go on to win by five points.
Nikolina Mihajlovik (Mississauga, ON / Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) led the Hawks in scoring against Siena with a trio of goals.
Madison Germuska (Encinitas, CA / Cathedral Catholic H.S.),
Lissa Westerman (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor H.S.), and
Sarah Lewis (La Jolla, CA / Cathedral Catholic H.S.) each scored a pair of goals in the Hawks win.
Maryanna Antoniou (Glyfada, Greece / Second General High School of Glyfada),
Gina Grauer (West Lawn, PA / Wilson H.S.), and
Edra Colbeck (Seattle, WA / Roosevelt H.S.) each scored a lone goal to round out Wick's scoring in the first game.
In the second game against Marist College it was tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter. Wick proceeded to rack up seven unanswered goals in the second quarter leading 9-2 at the half. The Hawks would hold onto their lead in the second half going on to win by eight.
Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary / Rudas) scored six goals against the Red Foxes to lead the Hawks in scoring.
L.J. Edwards (Encinitas, CA / Cathedral Catholic) scored a trio of goals and had the second most goals for the Hawks.
Tori Wilson (Kitchener, ON / Grand River Collegiate Institute) and
Lena Kotanchyan (Moscow, Russia / Elk Island School) each had a duo of goals.
Lauren Brennan (Canberra, Australia / St. Clares College),
Charlotte Cottle (Sydney, Australia / Presbyterian Ladies College), and
Becca Lelles (Boulder City, NV / Boulder City H.S.) each had a lone goal to round out scoring in the second game.
The Hawks will be in action next weekend, March 3
rd and 4
th, at the Indiana Invite hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.
