Hawks Defeat Concordia and Brown

IRVINE, CA - No. 12 Hartwick was in action today for a pair of games at Concordia University. The Hawks defeated Concordia University 17-9 in their first match. In their second match, 'Wick defeated Brown University 13-8 in a CWPA conference. Hartwick is now 25-5 overall and 2-0 in the CWPA.

In the first game, 'Wick outscored the Eagles 5-3 in the first period. The Hawks built upon their lead in the second period shutting out the Eagles 5-0 and leading 10-3 at halftime. The Eagles kept pace with the Hawks scoring in the second half but were unable to dent the 'Wick lead. Hartwick would go on to win by eight goals.

Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary / Rudas H.S.) led the Hawks in scoring with four goals. Lena Kotanchyan (Moscow, Russia / Elk Island School) scored three times. Tori Wilson (Kitchener, ON / Grand River Collegiate Institute) and L.J. Edwards (Encinitas, CA / Cathedral Catholic H.S.) each had two goals apiece. Lauren Brennan (Canberra, Australia / St. Clares College), Maryanna Antoniou (Glyfada, Greece / Second General H.S. of Glyfada), Becca Lelles (Boulder City, NV / Boulder City H.S.), Madison Germuska (Encinitas, CA / La Costa Canyon H.S.), Charlotte Cottle (Sydney, Australia / Presbyterian Ladies College), and Edra Colbeck (Seattle, WA / Roosevelt H.S.) each had one tally. Emma Aleksandrovic (Belgrade, Serbia / Medicine School of Zvezdara) had five saves in goal.

In the second game, the Hawks climbed out to an early 6-1 lead at the end of the first period. 'Wick held onto their five-goal lead at the half with the score 7-2. The Hawks outscored the Bears 5-2 in the third period to extend their lead to eight goals. The Bears outscored 'Wick 4-1 in the fourth period but it was not enough to overcome the Hawks' lead.

Kotanchyan paced the Hawks in scoring against the Bears with four goals. Wilson had three goals in the match. Nikolina Mihajlovik (Mississauga, ON / Silverthorn Collegiate Institute) had two goals. Brennan, Edwards, Polak, and Lelles each had one goal apiece to round out scoring. Josette Santos (Huntington Beach, CA / Edison H.S.) had seven saves in goal against the Bears.

The Hawks will be in action on March 31st for a pair of games against No. 3 University of Southern California at 12:00 p.m. and No. 7 University of California Irvine at 6:00 p.m. Both games are Pacific Time.
