Box Score PITTSFORD, NY – Hartwick's women's tennis team lost the opening match of its 2019 Empire 8 Conference slate on Saturday as the Cardinals defeated the Hawks 9-0 at the Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
With the setback, the Hawks slip to 1-5 overall. The Cardinals are 2-1.
In singles play,
Victoria Wilson (Trenton, NY/Trenton Catholic) won four games but lost to Kaili Saffran in first singles, 6-3, 6-1.
Hannah Pettis (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) also fell 6-3, 6-1 to Cydney Bell in the third flight.
McKenzie Rider (Salamanca, NY/Salamanca) dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at fifth singles to Fisher's Amanda Thongsirmonghoun.
In doubles action, Wilson and
Skylar Watts (Rome, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) fell short in the first flight to Saffran and Cassidy Bell by a final count of 8-4.
The Hawks are back in action on Wednesday, September 14 at home against Alfred University in another Empire 8 match.
