Men’s Lacrosse Game Preview: Sage

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks are aiming to bounce back after a tough loss against Alfred in their first conference game of the season. The team will look to rally around another outstanding performance by senior Pete Conley, who had 6 points against Alfred, this Tuesday as the Hawks take on the Sage Gators. The second conference game of the year will be at 4pm in Wright Stadium. 

The Series: 
 
This will be the third series meeting between the Hawks and the Gators, with the first two matchups falling in favor of Hartwick. In last season's contest, the two were tied up at 4 goals apiece at the end of the 1st quarter, but a big performance over the next three quarters gave Hartwick the 19-9 win. Leading the team to a big victory was returning junior Shayne Kerrigan tallying 3 goals. 

Key Stats for Hartwick (2-3): 
 
In last year's contest, the Hawks took a blistering 63 total shots with 40 finding the net. As a team, the Hawks were a well-oiled machine, recording 67 total ground balls. The face-off X was commanded by Hartwick as they went 20-32. The Hawks also converted 50% of their extra man opportunities.
 
Hartwick this season has been sharing the ball well, registering 32 assists on 57 goals.  Additionally, the Hawks have 159 ground ball pick-ups across 5 games. Returning senior Pete Conley has had an impressive 2023 campaign so far, leading the team in goals with 13 and 7 assists.
