Cross Country Empire 8 Championship Preview

ONEONTA, N.Y. - The Hartwick Cross Country program gears up for another trip to the Empire 8 Cross Country Championships on November 2nd, the women will begin their championship quest at 11am, followed by the men at noon. 

 

The 2024 Empire 8 Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Houghton University, at the Field of Dreams Park in Houghton, N.Y..

 

The Women led by Junior Brynita Haas (Red Creek, N.Y.)  will look to improve on their 7th place finish last year, with help from newcomers Julia Weinschrieder (Williamson, N.Y.) and Addison Shank (Emmaus, Pa.).

 

Returners Maddy Smith (Oneonta, N.Y.) and Giovanna Wall (West Hurley, N.Y.) will look to make an impact on the leaderboards.

 

The Men will look to make their way up the standings, led by sophomore Erik Higgins (Buffalo, N.Y.). The Hawks will count on newcomers, Larry McCumiskey (Delhi, N.Y.), Devon Spalding (Mineola, N.Y.), Kevin Cando (Liberty, N.Y.) and Jayden Perera (Middle Village, N.Y.) to help secure a solid performance for the Hawks.

 

2024 Empire 8 Cross Country Championship Schedule

Saturday, November 2

Women's Championship (8,000-meters) – 11:00 a.m.

Men's Championship (6,000-meters) – 12:00 p.m.
