WEBSTER, N.Y. – The Hartwick Swim and Dive program began their championship quest on Day 1 of the Allegheny Empire Championship held at the Webster Aquatic Center, hosted by Alfred University.

The Hawks started their afternoon with the 200 medley relay, the grouping of Owen James (St. Lutz, Fla.), Hassan Abdelwahed(New Hartford, N.Y.), Mikey Schultz (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Sebastian Knowles (Plano, TX) were able to place fourth with a time of one minute and thirty five seconds.

Three meter diving with eleven dives was the following event, Jack Armstrong (Windham, NH) continued his great season on the board as he posted a 494.25 score to place first among Empire 8 contestants and second overall.

Peyton Humphries (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) also had a solid performance with a score of 346.75 to place fifth to wrap up the diving portion of the day.

The Men closed out their evening with the 800 freestyle relay, Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.), Nick Tirrell (Turner, Me.), Cameron Drake (El Cajon, Cal.) and Schultz combined for a time of six minutes and fifty nine seconds for a first place finish, ending the first day placing second overall with 163 points.

The 800 freestyle relay marked the end of the first day of the Allegheny Empire Championship. Ellie Baird (Wilton, N.Y.), Dy, Wilbur and Russo clocked in at eight minutes and six seconds to earn a third place finish as they currently sit in first place with 124 points.
