ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Empire 8 Conference has named Gianna Leggieri and Phoebe Olson as the 2025 Empire 8 Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Year, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The dynamic pairing of Leggieri (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and Olson (Jamestown, N.D.) capped off an outstanding 2025 campaign, compiling a 9-3 overall record while anchoring the Hawks' top-flight doubles position.
The duo was dominant in Empire 8 play, posting a 7-1 conference record, with their only setback coming against Geneseo during the regular season. Leggieri and Olson avenged that loss in decisive fashion, defeating Geneseo in the championship round to complete a historic season for the Hawks.
For Olson, the honor marks her fourth career Empire 8 doubles recognition and her second consecutive Doubles Team of the Year selection, having earned the inaugural award in 2024 alongside former partner Alexandra Krasinska. Leggieri continues her rapid rise, earning her second career Empire 8 doubles honor and her first First Team selection.
