Seven Hawks Named to Empire 8 Field Hockey All-Conference List

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick field hockey program landed a total of seven Hawks on the Empire 8 All-Conference Teams, as voted on by the conference coaches.

Junior Katelyn Klotz (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) secured her first All-Conference First Team honor after having been previously named to the Third Team in the 2024 season. This year, Klotz was dominant on both ends of the field, leading the Hawks with a whopping 16 goals as a defender, two of them being game-winners. She would also pick up 5 assists and a defensive save while posting an incredible .822 shot on goal percentage from 45 total shots. In addition to All-Conference honors, Klotz would also be recognized as the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year.

Joining Klotz on the First Team is junior Hope Angioletti (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) who received her second consecutive All-Conference First Team honor for her performance in the midfield. Angioletti led the team with 11 assists this season and snagged 8 goals, two of which were game-winners. She would also be a threat on defense, continuously stopping the opposition to give possession to Hartwick on a consistent basis.

Mackenzie Hubbard (High Falls, N.Y.), a junior, would also secure First Team honors for the Hawks, earning three assists as a defender. She would also be credited with a defensive save. This will be Hubbard's first All-Conference recognition.

In goal for the Hawks would be Ava Reynolds (South Glens Falls, N.Y.), who would not only earn First Team honors, but also be named as the Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year. Reynolds was the starting goalie for the Hawks in all 17 of their games, surpassing 100 saves in a single season to end with 114 total saves off of 169 shots faced. Reynolds was integral to the Hawks' defensive unit this season, holding down the defense with a .838 save percentage.

On the All-Conference Second Team would be Natalie O'Malley (Pleasantville, N.Y.), who closed out a solid junior season of field hockey with 3 goals and 2 assists. This is O'Malley's first All-Conference recognition.

Rounding out the All-Conference selections are Third Team honorees Kayla Kinkel (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Makayla Bales (Sidney, N.Y.).

Kinkel would close out her sophomore season with her first All-Conference recognition and ranking second on the team with 9 goals and 8 assists. She would also lead the team in game-winning goals with a total of 3. She posed an incredible threat in the scoring circle with a .781 shot on goal percentage off 32 total shots.

Bales caps off the All-Conference selections, also having secured her first ever All-Conference honor after a tremendous sophomore season. She tallied up 5 goals– including a game-winner at Keuka College on October 29th– and an assist this year.

In addition to the All-Conference selections, the Empire 8 has announced senior Zoe Wagner (Lockport, N.Y.) as Hartwick's representative for the Field Hockey Sportswoman of the Year team, an honor awarded to those who have demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship.
