ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Hawks Field Hockey program had four student-athletes selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholars of Distinction list, the organization announced Friday.
The prestigious honor recognizes student-athletes who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the fall semester and were nominated by their NFHCA member coaches.
Natalie O'Malley (Pleasantville, N.Y.) paced the Blue and White with her third consecutive selection, an impressive accomplishment for the rising senior who also earned All-Academic Squad honors for the third year in a row.
Erica Leeson (Auburn, N.Y.) and Makayla Bales (Sidney, N.Y.) each earned their second career appearance on the Scholars of Distinction list, continuing their strong academic performances. Both were also named to the NFHCA All-Academic Squad earlier in the week.
Aubrey McDonnell (Herkimer, N.Y.) collected her first Scholars of Distinction honor in her debut season with the Hawks. She also earned her first NFHCA All-Academic Squad recognition, capping a strong freshman campaign in the classroom.
