ONEONTA, N.Y. – Today, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the Men's and Women's Basketball College Division At-Large Academic All-District Teams, with Hartwick placing Mike Gitz (Commack, N.Y.) on the men's team.
A sophomore guard, Gitz boasted an impressive second season with the Hawks, starting in a total of 23 out of 25 games. This season, he was able to collect 61 rebounds, tally 20 assists, and manage 16 steals and 4 blocks. Gitz was also the Hawks' leading scorer, earning 272 points and ranking first on the team with 70 three-pointers made. He also ranks second on the team with a total of 94 field goals made.
Gitz was also recently named Hartwick's representative for the Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Award. Off the court, Gitz was also recognized for outstanding academic achievement, having been named to the Empire 8 Fall 2024 President's List.
To qualify for All-District consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, hold at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and be a starter or important reserve for their respective teams.
