ONEONTA, N.Y. – Six Hawks, including three members of the field hockey team and three from the women's lacrosse team, have been named to the At-Large Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
The honorees from the field hockey team this year include Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), Hope Angioletti (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), and Dani Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.).
The women's lacrosse team honorees include Kristen Vaccarelli (Dix Hills, N.Y.), Brianna Liebro (Castleton, N.Y.), and Kara Anderson (Collingwood, Ont.).
Senior midfielder Ashley Tricarico started in 17 games for the Hawks, tallying up 6 goals including two game winners, and led the team with 6 assists. She posted an impressive .590 shot on goal percentage off 39 total shots. To cap off her stellar season, Tricarico earned team Most Valuable Player honors and was selected to the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team. She would also boast impressive academic accolades, being named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's DIII National Academic Squad and the Empire 8 2024 Spring President's List.
Hope Angioletti would start in all 19 games for the Hawks as a sophomore forward, collecting 5 goals including two game winners, and 1 assist. She would also post 32 of 63 shots on goal for a .508 percentage. Her performance on the field would earn her Empire 8 All-Conference First Team honors. Academically, Angioletti would land on the NFHCA DIII National Academic Squad and the Empire 8 2024 Spring President's List.
Sophomore forward Dani Hand was also a key starter for the Hawks, competing in all 19 games. She ranked second on the team with 9 total goals, including one game winner, and 4 assists. Hand would also lead the team with a stellar .673 shot on goal percentage, from 37 of 55 shots on goal. She would earn Empire 8 Second Team All-Conference honors for her hard work on the field, while also being named to the NFHCA DIII National Academic Squad for her equally impressive work in the classroom.
On the lacrosse team, senior captain Kristen Vaccarelli was a dominant force in the midfield, having started all 16 games and recording career highs of 68 goals and 21 assists, as well as 75 draw controls. She would shatter the Empire 8 career goal record in a victory over Keuka College, and later receive her fourth consecutive Empire 8 All-Conference First Team honor. Vaccarelli would also make waves beyond the conference with her third IWLCA Second Team All-Region nod. For her academic merits, Vaccarelli would be named to the Empire 8 2024 Spring President's List.
Senior Brianna Liebro would start in all 16 games for the Hawks as a defender, snagging 35 ground balls and 65 draw controls. She would also force an impressive 63 turnovers with an average of 3.94 per game, a feat which ranked her as #1 in the Empire 8 and #2 in NCAA Division III for caused turnovers per game. Liebro would also secure the Empire 8 First Team All-Conference honors and the team's Most Valuable Player Award. Off the field, Liebro was also praised for her academic merit.
Kara Anderson, a senior attacker, rounds out the Hawks' honorees this year. Anderson would start in all 16 games, posting 46 goals and 5 assists. She would also rank third on the team with a total of 54 draw controls. By the end of her standout season, Anderson would be named to the Empire 8 All-Conference Second Team and garner school academic honors.
To qualify for All-District consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, hold at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, and participate in 90% of the team's games played.
