HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1)
Hartwick met St. John Fisher on the road, wrapping up their weekend play with a 10-1 loss in the first game of the day. In their first inning, Hartwick went down in order, unable to reach base. The Cardinals got on base off of a walk, another hit and a double bringing their first runner around to put them up one.

She was left stranded heading into the bottom, where Hartwick defended Fisher to keep them scoreless. HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2)
The Hawks came into their next 7 innings with brand new intensity, leading the charge until the very last pitch of the day.

Hartwick jumped out to an early start, recording three runs on three hits to put them on top in the first inning. Casey O'Connor (Albany, NY) got on base first after being walked. Samantha Moore hit a single out to left field to put herself on first and advance a runner. A Fisher error put Shannon Mentz (Binghamton, NY) on third, bringing O'Connor and Moore home for a 2-0 lead. An Ashlee Stevens (Knox, NY) RBI single widened the gap putting the Hawks up another run. Fisher responded with two runs of their own in the bottom, cutting into the deficit.

The Hawks strung together another run, with Beak recording a single to start the second inning. Moore singled down the left field line to bring her runner home, the Hawks working hard to pull away. Three more hits led to three more runs for Hartwick in the top of the third, with Mihaly Blake (Troy, NY), Millington, and O'Connor all recording singles to put the Blue and White up 7-2. A Fisher RBI triple and a single brought them back as they chipped away at the lead.

The Cardinals dominated defensively in the top of the fourth, holding Hartwick to 7 runs. In their half of the inning, a single, a sacrifice bunt, and a Hartwick error put them in scoring position. A 3 RBI homer evened the score, Fisher finding gaps to fight their way back into the game.

A wild pitch placed Mihaly Blake on base in the top of the fifth, Madi Hoerman (Portage, MI) bringing her around with a triple- putting the Hawks back in the lead by one run. Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning, where a left field single RBI from the Cardinals tied the game. With bases loaded, a five-pitch at bat resulted in a walk- St. John Fisher stealing the game with a 9-8 decision.
