ONEONTA, N.Y - Hartwick College Head Football Coach Matt Rogers has announced the addition of Robert Haberger as the team's new running backs coach, effective August 3.
Haberger joins the Hartwick staff after most recently serving as a Football Operations and Film Coordinator Intern at Colgate University during the 2025-26 academic year.
"We are very excited to add Robert to our staff," said Rogers. "He comes highly recommended and has gained tremendous experience over the past few years at Cortland and Colgate. His attention to detail and work ethic stood out throughout our hiring process, and we're looking forward to him building strong relationships with our players and helping maximize their potential."
A graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland, Haberger was heavily involved with the football program during his time as a student, serving as a defensive and special teams assistant for the perennial Empire 8 powerhouse. He also led Cortland's club flag football team to success, coaching more than 20 all-tournament players.
"I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity to join Hartwick College, a place with such a strong sense of community," said Haberger. "I'm eager to get to know and work with everyone on campus. The sky is the limit for this team, and I'm grateful for the chance to do my part in helping develop our student-athletes."
Haberger joins Rogers and the Hawks as the program continues to build momentum heading into the 2026 season, looking to strengthen the foundation established in Rogers' first year at the helm when the Hawks doubled their win total and won the most games in a season in ten years.
