Hartwick Football Hosts Springfield Saturday

          ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick looks to snap a two-game winless streak and pick up its first Empire 8 win of the season against visiting Springfield on Saturday at Wright Stadium at 4 p.m.                      
          The Hawks lead the Empire 8 in passing offense averaging 284.67 yards per outing. Top receiver Noah Koreman (Albany, NY/Albany), who caught eight passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns in 'Wick's last game against Alfred, ranks 7th in the nation in receiving yards per game hauling in over 134 yards per contest. 
           Running back Tosh DeMulder (Unatego, NY/Unadilla), who currently ranks 4th all-time in rushing yards at Hartwick, can vault himself into 3rd with a big day. The senior has accumulated 1,498 career yards on the ground and can move into third past Clarence Welch with 82 more yards. Both Koreman and DeMulder are tied for 10th nationally in scoring. The duo has combined for 24 of Hartwick's 28 touchdowns this season.         
            The Pride ranks in the top 15 in the country in five different offensive categories including rushing offense (386.50 yards/game), scoring offense (44 points/game), punt returns (17.07 yards/game), total offense (466.33 yards/game), and kickoff returns (24.63 yards/game). 
             Springfield started the season with two romps over Fitchburg 55-7, and King's 57-30, before falling to Alfred 49-28 for the team's lone loss. The Pride has since gotten back on track with a 27-point win over Utica, a 25-point victory over Husson, and a 27-point win at Mount Ida last weekend.Quarterback Josh Carter (Marlborough, MA) leads Springfield this season in rushing yards with a 121.83 average. He also ranks 15th in Division III football in the category and is tied for 8th in scoring averaging close to 13 points per contest. Jarred Burrell (Warwick, RI) ranks 4th in the country in punt returns, averaging close to 18 yards per attempt.
          Springfield leads the all-time series against the Hawks with four wins in five meetings. In the two teams' last game onNovember 8 of last season, Springfield downed 'Wick by 14 points, 45-31. The Pride outscored the Hawks 21-7 in the third quarter to build a 21-point lead heading into the final period. 'Wick cut the lead to seven points (38-31) in the fourth, but a late interception return for a touchdown sealed the deal for the Pride.
