ONEONTA, NY - Hartwick cruised past Utica on Wednesday to improve to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8. The Hawks shutout the Pioneers in eight of nine matches on the day in the 9-0 victory.

Betsy Breaznell (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) won in first singles 6-2, 6-2, over Jen Pursio, and Jennifer Lin (Albany, NY/Colonie), Christina Sorrentino (Sherrill, NY/VVS), Kim Post (Nashua, NH/N. Middlesex Reg.), Carly Jesset (Shelburne, NY/CVU), and Emily Scarano (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) each won in 12 straight games, 6-0, 6-0.

Post and Lin won their sixth match of the season at second doubles 8-0. Breaznell and Sorrentino also cruised 8-0, and Kathleen Watson (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) and Lauren Michels (Clinton, NY/Clinton) moved to 2-1 on the season with a shutout win.

Hartwick is off until Oct. 3rd when the team looks to even its conference record at 3-3 with a battle at St. John Fisher.
