Football Crushes Becker, 55-3

LEICESTER, MA — Hartwick College (4-0) scored early and often in a 55-3 romp over Becker College (0-4) in non-conference football on Saturday. The Hawks racked up 635 total yards of offense in the game which is the fourth-highest single game total in Division III football this season. The 52-point win is the most lopsided victory for the Hawks since a 68-7 win over St. Lawrence in 2002. It also marks the fewest points allowed by a Hartwick team since a 42-0 shutout of Union, also in '02.
Noah Koreman (Albany, NY/Albany) scored on a 66-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Brian Radley (Herkimer, NY/Dolgeville) 1:46 into the game igniting the big offensive day for the Blue and White. Becker would cut into the lead with a 42-yard field goal halfway through the first quarter, but it would be the last points allowed by the Hawk defense on the afternoon.
One minute and 41 seconds after the Becker field goal, Tosh DeMulder (Unadilla, NY/Unatego) scored on a 10-yard run for the first of three trips to the end zone for the senior running back. He would finish the day with a career-high 190 yards on the ground on 19 carries.
Radley, who ended the game with 211 passing yards and two touchdown passes on just 8-of-10 throwing, hooked up with Koreman early in the second quarter to make it a 21-3 game, and two more scores from DeMulder midway through the period and with 26 seconds left, increased the lead to 35-3 at halftime.
In the second half, career firsts were everywhere on the field for the Hawks. Jon Kravetz (E. Syracuse, NY/E. Syracuse-Minoa) and quarterback Kyle Morenus (Sidney, NY/Sidney) combined for a pair of them on a 27-yard score. Kravetz hauled in his first touchdown reception with Morenus throwing his first passing TD at 'Wick. Early in the fourth, Morenus found wide receiver Jordan Wilkins (Portsmouth, NH/Hyde School) for his first touchdown catch of his career to open up a 45-point lead. Frank Devine (Farmingdale, NY/Hal Hollow Hills E.) capped off the day with a 9-yard scamper for his first career trip to the end zone with 7:13 remaining in the game.
Morenus closed out the game connecting on all five of his passing attempts for 79 yards to go along with his two touchdown throws. Koreman rang up 165 yards on only four catches, two of which went for touchdowns.
Defensively, the Hawks shut down the Becker offense, limiting it to a paltry 192 yards of total offense. Ben Tomaino (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) led Hartwick with 10 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, including two sacks. Jordan Spirou (Westbury, NY/W.T. Clarke), who led Hartwick in tackles in each of the first three wins of the season, finished with seven hits and one interception.
Hartwick now takes its unblemished 4-0 record into Empire 8 Conference play beginning next weekend. The Hawks host Ithaca College, a 27-24 winner over Utica today, next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Wright Stadium.
